excerpts from bob's journal...

I think we were both feeling a little pathetic about not having gone to either of the other Sandals resorts by late in the week. I think it was late Friday before we finally got motivated enough to hop on a shuttle bus to head to the Grande St Lucian, but the trip was still pathetic.

I think the bus dropped us off at "The Grande" around 5:30, and the next bus headed back the Halcyon left at 6:00. So, we spent all of 25 minutes walking around what was we soon realized to be a very large resort. This place had more of a hotel feel than or place. There were no quaint little buildings with three or four suites. Here there were several large buildings with hundreds of rooms. There was a small mall selling all sorts of upscale goodies. The pools went on and on and the beach was larger and more groomed than the one at the Halcyon. There was a long walkway expanding out into the ocean. We walked out to the end of it to check things out. Off to our left was a large bay, which I later learned to be Rodney Bay. To our right were some large hills, which the sun was starting to set behind.

As "Grande" as it was, I think we liked the Halcyon, and we hopped back on the 6:00 bus, completing our 60 minute journey to see one of the other resorts. Pathetic? Definitely...
