just before 8 on tuesday morning the phone rang - a little unusual at our house. it was niki. the brook had come over its banks and into the back yard. it was just like 2006. she also told us that the city had dumped dirt in the back yard to damm up the brook.

niki's husband steve and several of her inlaws were pulling everything up from the basement.

i threw on some clothes and headed over to lend a hand.
