i didn't sleep well that night. lori and i still owned half the house on new york street, so there was a lot at stake for us. on sunday night the national weather service was saying that the merrimack river was at 52 feet, and expected to crest at 62. that meant there was still a good 8 feet to go from what i had seen late on sunday night.

having heard the forecast from the national weather service, i was very afraid that the water would rise right into the first floor where niki lived. that would be a horror show. the floors, walls, and furniture would all be ruined.

now there was nothing left to do but wait to see how far the water would rise. i wasn't really sure when we would know just how bad it would get.

monday morning after dealing with some minor flooding issues at our own house, i headed off to work.

it didn't take long to see signs of the flooding. as i came to the lights at the bridge street bridge, i looked off to my right to see that lakeview ave had been blocked off.
