the basement - 1:30am - still dry...

with only a few hours left to save things, we were pretty unorganized. there were four of us there, but none of us really had any kind of plan. we just grabbed items at random and brought them up to the first floor.
i saw a small kid's toy, and grabbed it. niki wanted to save her christmas tree, so up it went. in the back yard i saw some bags of fertilizer, so i grabbed them. an air conditioner, a small box of miracle grow, the lawnmower, and halloween stuff, all of it went up.
i asked a few times, "what else?" but that was about it...
before i left i took a bunch of pics of the basement (like this one around 1:30am), just in case we needed them for our insurance claim. then i helped steve put a large grill into his truck, and left niki with the kitty carrier.
at 1:40am i was headed home...
about four houses up the road i hit a large puddle. it was the kind you worried about making it through... the brook had spilled over further up the street.
at 1:41am i called niki to tell her, steve, and paula to get out of there. the brook was flooding the neighborhood. in a matter of a few minutes they might be stuck there for good.
